On Wednesday, November 28, 2012, Galen University’s President’s Seminar Series was hosted by Sister Leonor Franco, a member of the Sisters of Mercy, Belize. Sister Franco delivered a noteworthy presentation on one of the world’s most lucrative, organized crimes: Human Trafficking. Discussion points at the Seminar included reasons and probable causes that contribute to human trafficking and realistic recommendations in an effort to raise further awareness among young people. Sister Leonor concluded with a call to action to report to any suspicious activity that may be directly or indirectly linked human trafficking. The session ended with a prayer to end human trafficking and to especially protect victims of this illegal activity. Galen University’s faculty, staff and students express great appreciation to Sister Leonor Franco for guest lecturing at the Seminar.
