Secondary Education

The Galen Diploma programs prepare in-service and pre-service teachers to meet the requirements to earn a full license to teach as prescribed by the Ministry of Education. Students can enter the Secondary Education program as a Junior College transfer student or High School graduate. Applicants coming from high school can expect to complete the degree program in approximately 4 years, while Junior College transfer students can complete the degree program in approximately 2 ½ years. All of our education programs are approved and recognized by the Belize Board of Teacher Education (BBTE).

This program is approved by the Ministry of Education and upon completion, graduates from this program will qualify for full licensure in the field of specialization at the secondary level.

The program is 120 credit hours and is aligned with the associate degree programs in English, Math, Physics, Business Administration, Social Science, and Computer Science offered at tertiary level institutions in Belize. Students transferring to Galen University with an associates degree in any of the areas of concentration listed above The program is a fully online program offered in the evenings from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
