Mrs. Hannah St. Luce-Martinez is a wife and mother of three who has worked within the public
service of Belize for the past 15 Years. She currently serves as the Director of the National
Biodiversity Office and Belize’s National Focal Point to the Convention on Biological Diversity.
She also coordinates the Global Biodiversity Finance Initiative in Belize; a Program which has
transformed the outlook for biodiversity financing and management in Belize.
Mrs. Martinez hold a master’s degree in Biodiversity and Tropical Forest Management and
Conservation from the Tropical Agricultural Research and Education Center (CATIE) in Costa
Rica and a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Granma, Cuba.
To date her professional achievements, include the management and coordination of medium
to large size projects which have jointly produced critical policy, institutional and financing
frameworks to support the successful implementation of our biodiversity targets and goals.
Mrs. Martinez is especially passionate about promoting gender inclusivity and establishment of
policies and systems which favor a balance between social and professional productivity within
the public and private sector. She is dedicated to empowering youth and women in our society.
