GALEN UNIVERSITY MENS BASKETBALL TEAM WIN UB

Last Friday the Galen University Mens Basketball team opened up The ATLIB regional competition with a well balanced victory over the University of Belize Black Jaguars 84-46 The Eagles outscored UB in every quarter. The Eagles jumped out to a 19-12 lead after the 1st quarter. Kevin Brown scored 12 points in the opening quarter including 2 Three point shots. Galen then outscored UB 20-13 in the 2nd quarter pushing their lead up to 39-25 at the half. Raul Roches and Kevin Brown each scored 5 points in the quarter and Brown hit another 3 point shot.

The Eagles came out with defense on its agenda in the 2nd half. They outscored UB 27-4 to take a commanding lead 66-29 after 3 quarters of action. Roger Reneau scored 9 points in the 3rd quarter and added a 3pt shot to lead Galen in scoring for the quarter. The fourth quarter saw Galen edge out UB 18-17. Karym Coleman chipped in with 6 points in the final stanza.

The final score was Galen 84 to UB 46. Kevin Brown led all scorers with 24 points and made 4 three point shots. Roman Alvarez added 14 points and hit on 2 three pointers. Roger Reneau also had 14 points and made 1 three point shot. Raul Roches chipped in with 12 points and also made 1 three point shot. Karym Coleman had 6 points while Julian Thiessen, Nigel Martinez and Lisani Lambey had 4 points each.
