Galen University hosts Scholarship Ceremony

The Annual Galen University Scholarship Ceremony was held on September 13th, 2019 at Galen’s Central Farm Campus and celebrated the awarding of scholarships to 65 deserving students.  Each year this event gives a wonderful opportunity to recognize the success of our existing scholarship students continuing their educational journey as Galen Eagles, and to welcome new scholars into our Athletic, Academic and Professional scholarship programs.  Galen University’s scholarship program awards students between 40% to 100% of tuition cost covering up to 4 years to complete their Bachelor’s degree.

“At Galen, there are two things that underpin everything we do – a commitment to excellence, sustainable development and lifelong learning along with a determination to give everyone the very best chance to reach their full potential. There is no better example of this than our scholarship program, which offers help to students with exceptional ability who through an array of cultural, geographical and socio-economic circumstances might otherwise not have the opportunity to come to Galen.  That help takes many forms. It is often financial, of course, but there is also much to be gained from offering the opportunity to gain work experience, to travel, to make connections, or simply to find a mentor who can guide, advise and assist a  student find his or her own path in life.”, Gina Anderson, Financial Services Director.

Galen is also deeply indebted to the academic and professional staff who give of their time, and to a dedicated group of corporate partners who share our vision.  For all of us the reward is the same – seeing the students we’ve helped go on to take their professional places in society and make a real difference to their communities.

The Provost, speaking about Galen’s commitment to its ongoing Scholarship Program, said “An investment in our students is an investment back into the community. “

Guest Speaker at the award ceremony was Jarrel Velasquez, a former scholar, and Eagle Basketball player. Mr. Velasquez, who now trains basketball players in China for Five-Star Sports, spoke of his educational journey at Galen and especially about his personal growth and development under the guidance of Coach Tarr and his Professors. He urged the scholars to value the tremendous opportunity afforded them by the Scholarship program, and to believe in themselves.

The Galen administration congratulates all Scholarship Recipients and wishes them the best in their educational journey at Galen.
