Congratulations, you have successfully completed your graduation requirements!

To be eligible for graduation a student must have:

  1.  Successfully completed all the requirements for the degree they seek to obtain.
  2. Maintained a satisfactory level of performance in coursework.
  3. Submit all pending documents of your application package such as your official feeder transcripts, copy of your feeder diploma, and copy of a valid Social Security card, and or Marriage License(if applicable).
    • Undergraduate Programs require a minimum final grade of C on all courses.
    • Graduate Programs require a minimum final grade of B on all courses.
  4. Discharged all financial obligations to the University at least four weeks before the date of the Commencement Exercises

Note, that if you do not fulfill any of the academic and financial requirements for graduation, you will not graduate on the date you applied for, and your graduation application will be automatically deferred to the next graduation date.
Once paid, your graduation fee will remain valid until you meet all graduation requirements.

Graduation Application Deadlines

The application deadlines for graduation vary based on your expected semester of completion. Please apply before the deadline based on your expected semester of completion.

  • I completed my coursework in Fall 2023 – DEADLINE PASSED
  • I expect to complete my coursework in Spring 2024 – DEADLINE PASSED
  • I expect to complete my coursework in Summer 2024 – APPLY IMMEDIATELY

Graduation Fee

The Graduation Fee for undergraduates is $300 while the fee for graduate students is $350. Once you have submitted your graduation application form to the records department, you will receive an invoice for the graduation fee from the Finance Department. The graduation fee is a standard one time fee that must be paid whether you intended to participate in the Commencement exercise or not.

  2. One Unofficial Transcript
  3. One Official Transcript
  4. Stole
  5. Tassel
  6. Honor Chords (where applicable)
  7. Graduation Invitations (4 per student)
  8. Participation in the Commencement Exercises
  9. Regalia Rental

Commencement Exercise

The commencement exercise, also known as the graduation ceremony, is an opportunity to celebrate your achievements with your family, friends and loved ones.

Here is important information if you intend to participate in the 2024 Commencement Exercise:

Graduation Regalia

For the commencement exercise, you are loaned graduation regalia which includes a gown and hat. The rental fee for the regalia is included in the graduation fee. The gown and hat must be returned before you receive your diploma; this can be completed immediately after the commencement exercise.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the GPA requirements for honors?

The academic achievement of graduates who attain grade point averages over 3.45 are reflected through honor chords. Honor cords are only given to undergraduate students. Graduate, diploma, associate and certificate are commemorated separately.

  • CGPA of 3.45 – 3.64, Cum Laude – white honor cord.
  • CGPA of 3.65 – 3.85, Magna Cum Laude – gold honor cord.
  • CGPA of 3.85 – 4.00, Summa Cum Laude – tricolor honor cord.

When will I receive my diploma?

Accessing your diploma varies based on your participation in the commencement exercise.

  • I am participating in the commencement exercise
    • You receive your diploma after you have met the academic requirements and financial obligations to Galen University. After the commencement ceremony, you will have the opportunity to return your gown and cap. Once you have returned your gown, and cleared your financial obligations to Galen University, you are financially cleared and free to access your diploma.
    • Diplomas will be distributed at the commencement exercise venue immediately following the ceremony.
    • If you choose to return your graduation gown and cap at a later date, you can the pick up your diploma from the Record’s Office at the Galen University Central Farm Campus.
  • I am NOT participating in the commencement exercise
    • You receive your diploma after you have met the academic requirements and financial obligations to Galen University.
    • Diplomas will be distributed at the commencement exercise venue immediately following the ceremony. You are able to visit the venue and collect your diploma if you are not participating in the commencement exercise. Alternatively, you can pick up your diploma from the Record’s Office at the Galen University Central Farm Campus.

Can I receive my diploma at the Belize City Office?

Diploma’s are only distributed at the Central Farm Campus.

Can I receive my diploma at the Northern Campus?

Diploma’s are only distributed at the Central Farm Campus.

When will I receive my graduation regalia? 

Graduation regalia will be distributed on July 8 & 9, 2024 from both our Belize City and Central Farm Offices.

Students who are unable to collect their regalia on the specified dates and wish to authorize another person to collect their regalia on their behalf are asked to complete the Regalia Collection Authorization Form: https://forms.gle/kYLQ2hBdirR1j6vB6

Can I decorate my graduation cap?

Graduation caps are rented. They are to be returned, along with the gown, after the commencement exercise. If damaged, there will be a fee of $25.00.

Can I still access a gown and hat if I am not participating in the commencement exercise?

Yes, you are able to access regalia if you have met your academic requirements and financial obligations. Prospective graduands who do not participate in the commencement exercise normally access regalia to take photos to commemorate their academic achievement. You are able to access the regalia for a period of 2 weeks, the rental fee is included in the graduation fee.

You will not be able to receive your diploma until you have returned your regalia.

When can I return my graduation regalia?

You can return your regalia immediately after the commencement ceremony at the venue.

You can also return your regalia at the Central Farm campus after the commencement ceremony.

You will be unable to receive your diploma until you return your regalia.

How many invitations will I receive?

Prospective graduands will receive four(4) invitations to the commencement exercise.

Do children require an invitation? 

Any guest who will occupy a chair during the ceremony will be required to present an invitation.

Can I buy more invitations?

Galen University encourages prospective graduands to source additional invitations from the graduating cohort.

If I require a completion letter, what is the process to apply? 

A completion letter certifies that you have successfully completed the requirements for the degree you are seeking to attain. A completion letter is NOT a diploma. To apply for a completion letter:

Meeting the graduation application deadline is crucial to receiving your diploma in a timely manner and participating in the commencement exercises. If the graduation application deadline has passed, you are still required to complete the graduation application form and pay the graduation fee.
