Graduating from Galen University is a significant milestone, and we commend your dedication and hard work. To ensure a smooth transition to graduation, please review the following important information.

Graduation Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for graduation, students must have:
- Successfully complete all degree requirements.
- Maintain satisfactory academic performance.
- Undergraduate programs require a minimum final grade of C in all courses.
- Graduate programs require a minimum final grade of B in all courses.
- Submit all pending application documents, including:
- Official feeder transcripts
- Copy of feeder diploma
- Copy of a valid Social Security card
- Marriage license (if applicable)
- Settle all financial obligations to the University at least four weeks before the commencement ceremony.
Note: Failure to meet any academic or financial requirements will result in the automatic deferment of your graduation application to the next available graduation date. Once paid, your graduation fee remains valid until you fulfill all graduation requirements.

Graduation Application Process
All students must submit a graduation application, whether or not they plan to attend the commencement ceremony. This application confirms your eligibility for the degree.
How to Apply
- Visit galen.edu.bz/forms.
- Complete the Graduation Application Form: Download Here.
- Submit your completed application form to records@galen.edu.bz and finance@galen.edu.bz.
Graduation Application Deadlines
Graduation application deadlines vary based on your expected semester of completion. Please ensure that you submit your application before the designated deadline for your respective term.
- Completed coursework in 2024-1 Fall – DEADLINE PASSED (Submit your graduation application IMMEDIATELY).
- Expected program completion in 2024-2 Spring (January 13, 2025 – April 23, 2025) – DEADLINE PASSED (Submit your graduation application IMMEDIATELY).
- Expected program completion in 2024-3 Summer (May 5, 2025 – July 5, 2025) – The deadline for submission is April 23, 2025.

Graduation Fees
The graduation fee is a one-time, non-refundable payment, required whether or not you participate in the commencement ceremony.
- Undergraduate Students: $350
- Graduate Students: $400
Upon submission of your application to the Records Department, an invoice will be issued by the Finance Department.

Commencement Ceremony
The commencement exercise, also known as the Graduation Ceremony, is an opportunity to celebrate your achievements with your family, friends and loved ones.

Graduation Regalia
Regalia rental is included in the graduation fee and must be returned before receiving your diploma.

Undergraduate Regalia Includes:
Burgundy gown, stole, mortarboard cap, tassel, and honor cord (if applicable) (BACHELORS ONLY). You may keep the cap, stole, and tassel.

Post Graduate Regalia Includes:
Burgundy gown, light blue stole, mortarboard cap and tassel. You may keep the cap, stole, and tassel.

Graduate Regalia Includes:
Burgundy master’s gown, hood (faculty color), mortarboard cap and tassel. You may keep the cap, hood, and tassel.


Receiving Your Diploma
For Students Attending the Ceremony:
- Diplomas will be distributed immediately after the ceremony upon returning the graduation gown.
For Students Not Attending the Ceremony:
- Diplomas will be available for pick-up at the Records Office, Central Farm Campus, from July 14, 2025.
- If you prefer to collect your diploma at the commencement venue, inform the Records Office at records@galen.edu.bz at least five days prior.
Note: Diplomas will not be distributed at the Belize City or Northern Campus offices.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the GPA requirements for honors?
Undergraduate students who achieve a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.45 or higher receive honor cords to recognize their academic excellence. Honor cords are awarded only to undergraduate students. Graduate, diploma, associate, and certificate recipients are recognized separately.
The honor distinctions are as follows:
- Cum Laude (White Honor Cord): CGPA of 3.45 – 3.64
- Magna Cum Laude (Gold Honor Cord): CGPA of 3.65 – 3.84
- Summa Cum Laude (Tricolor Honor Cord): CGPA of 3.85 – 4.00
When will I receive my diploma?
The timeline for receiving your diploma depends on whether you are participating in the commencement ceremony.
For graduates participating in the commencement ceremony:
- Diplomas will be distributed immediately following the ceremony at the venue.
- To receive your diploma, you must have met all academic requirements and settled any outstanding financial obligations to Galen University.
- Before collecting your diploma, you must return your graduation gown.
- If you return your gown at a later date, you may collect your diploma from the Records Office at the Central Farm Campus.
For graduates NOT participating in the commencement ceremony:
- Diplomas will also be available at the commencement venue immediately following the ceremony.
- If you wish to collect your diploma at the venue, you must notify the Records Office (records@galen.edu.bz) at least five (5) days in advance.
- If you do not collect it at the venue, diplomas will be available for pickup at the Records Office, Central Farm Campus, starting July 14, 2025.
Can I receive my diploma at the Belize City Office?
No, diplomas are only distributed at the Central Farm Campus.
Can I receive my diploma at the Northern Campus?
No, diplomas are only distributed at the Central Farm Campus.
Can I decorate my graduation cap?
Yes, but decorations must be appropriate for the ceremony. If deemed unsuitable, a plain cap will be provided for the event, and your decorated cap will be returned afterward.
Can I access regalia if I am not attending the ceremony?
Yes, if you meet all academic and financial requirements, you may borrow regalia for a two-week period (included in the graduation fee) for photo opportunities.
When should I return my regalia?
- Immediately after the ceremony at the venue.
- At the Central Farm Campus following the ceremony.
- Diplomas will not be issued until regalia is returned.
How many invitations will I receive?
Each graduate receives seven invitations: Three (3) VIP & Four (4) General.
Can I purchase additional invitations?
Yes, contact the Marketing Office at marketingofficer@galen.edu.bz at least two weeks in advance.
I require a completion letter.
A Completion Letter serves as official certification that you have successfully fulfilled all academic requirements for your degree. Please note that a Completion Letter is not equivalent to a diploma.
Completion Letters will be issued on the day of the degree conferral, scheduled for July 13, 2025, during the Commencement Exercise. Students who have satisfied all academic and non-academic requirements will receive their Completion Letter along with their graduation package. Each graduate will be provided with one Completion Letter in addition to their diploma.
If you have completed your degree in the Fall or Spring semesters and need a Completion Letter before July 13, 2025, you will need to apply for one. Here’s how:

I require a transcript.
Official transcripts will be distributed on the day of the degree conferral, which will take place on July 13, 2025. Transcripts, along with the graduation package, will be provided only to students who have met all academic and non-academic requirements.
Each graduate will receive two copies of their transcript: one official and one unofficial, in addition to their diploma.
If you have completed your degree in the Fall or Spring semesters and need an Official transcript before July 13, 2025, you will need to apply for one. Here’s how:

I missed the application deadline. What should I do?
Submit your application immediately and complete the required graduation fee payment. Late applications may result in a delay in receiving your diploma.
