New Student Orientation Fall 2024
Orientation at Galen University is your gateway to becoming part of our Eagle Family. This experience will provide you with essential information, introduce you to key members of our community, and prepare you for a successful start to your academic journey. During Orientation, you’ll meet peer mentors, advisors, faculty, and staff who are dedicated to supporting you. We look forward to welcoming you and beginning this enriching journey together.
Important Dates
- 19th August 2024: Virtual Launch of Orientation (7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.)
- 20th August – 31st August 2024: Advising (Virtual)
- 20th August – 31st August 2024: Self-paced modules on University resources via Google Classroom
- 30th OR 31st August 2024: On-campus, Face-to-Face Orientation (selecting classes on Xenegrade, learning on Moodle, logging into Moodle, setting up Moodle on your phone and two factor authentication for Moodle and Galen Email)
- 4th September 2024: Welcome Day for new and returning students (Mandatory for new students)
Orientation Events
Virtual Launch of Orientation
- Date: 19th August 2024
- Time: 7:00 p.m.
- Details: This session will introduce you to faculty, staff, and your orientation leaders. It is mandatory for all new students. This session will be virtual.
Advising
- Dates: 20th August 2024 – 31st August 2024
- Details: Advising sessions will be held virtually. During your advising session, you will discuss your educational objectives, program direction, and life ambitions with a faculty advisor tailored to your specific degree program. You will receive an invitation from your academic advisor, for an advising session, via your email address.
Self-Paced Modules
- Dates: 20th August 2024 – 31st August 2024
- Details: Complete modules on University resources, including financing, forms, records, academic policies, and the student handbook via Google Classroom.
Face-to-Face Orientation
- Dates: 30th OR 31st August 2024
- Time: 8:00 a.m.
- Details: On-campus orientation will cover properly activating your Galen Email (if necessary), locating your Student ID, registering for classes, logging into Moodle, setting up Moodle on your phone and two factor authentication for Moodle and Galen Email. Choose ONE of these days to attend.
⭐Welcome Day ⭐
- Date: 4th September 2024
- Time: 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
- Details: Welcome Day will be held at the Central Farm Campus. It includes activities to help new students integrate into the Galen community. This event is mandatory for all new students.
Advising
Advising is a crucial step for every new student. During your advising session, you will engage in meaningful conversations about your educational objectives, program direction, and life ambitions with a faculty advisor tailored to your specific degree program. Your academic advisor will reach out to you to schedule a session via your Galen or personal email address. These sessions are conducted virtually through Google Meets and typically span 30 minutes.
Registering for Classes
During the registration process, you’ll enroll in the courses scheduled for your first semester at Galen University. These courses align with your selections made during advising sessions with your assigned advisor. Registration will take place during the Central Farm Campus Orientation on 30th or 31st August 2024. Our staff will assist you in navigating the student gateway to select your classes. It’s mandatory to have a personal laptop or tablet for registration. Completion of Registration by noon is essential to ensure access to Moodle.
Logging into Moodle
Moodle is our primary platform for online teaching sessions. Students are expected to be adept at using these tools. Moodle serves as the hub for accessing course material, participating in assessments, and engaging in discussions. Familiarizing yourself with Moodle ensures you have seamless access to essential resources.
Galen University Email Address
Your Galen University email address will be used to access your classes, grades, and to communicate with other students, faculty, and staff. You are expected to check your Galen email daily. The credentials for your email address are provided by the Admissions Department upon acceptance to Galen University. You will activate your email address during the Central Farm Campus Orientation on the 30th or 31st August 2024.
Student Mailing List
Once you have successfully activated your Galen University email account, you will be added to the student mailing list. You are responsible for reading all email communications sent to you. The Records Department, Finance Department, Student Affairs Department, and the Student Government regularly send emails concerning important deadlines, dates, and events.
Registrar’s Office

The Registrar’s Office is responsible for verifying & evaluating official transcripts, arranging class scheduling, facilitating registration, maintaining academic records, and tracking your academic progress for graduation. The Registrar’s Office also interprets the handbook of academic policies for students, lecturers, and others.
Your Academic Pathway Your academic pathway lists all the courses you are required to take for your degree program. Your pathway is sent to you via email by the records department to the email address you provided to your admissions officer. You are required to have your academic pathway available during Advising and Registration.
Transfer Credits The Registrar’s Office is responsible for auditing your official transcripts and generating an academic pathway with your transfer credits if applicable. Transfer credits are listed as “TC” on your academic pathway. If you have questions regarding courses that have been transferred, please contact the Registrar’s Office at records@galen.edu.bz.
Proof of Enrollment The Registrar’s Office provides confirmation of a student’s enrollment at Galen University. If you require proof of your status as a student, please fill out the ‘Letters Request Form’, and select ‘Confirmation Letter’. The completed form should be submitted to the Registrar’s Office at records@galen.edu.bz.

Student Financing After you have successfully registered for your courses, a bill is automatically generated and sent to you via email to your Galen University email address 1 – 2 business days after registration. You will receive this bill from your student finance officer, with whom you can communicate throughout your time at Galen University.
What is the cost of my entire degree program? The Finance Department can provide the total cost of your degree program after you have received your official pathway from the Records Department. To request the total cost of your degree program, please email: finance@galen.edu.bz

IT Support

Information Technology (IT) Support ensures the seamless operation of digital systems and services essential for the academic and administrative functions of Galen University. Its primary objectives are to enhance the overall efficiency, accessibility, and reliability of IT resources across campus and online needs.
Technical Assistance The IT support team assists with troubleshooting hardware and software issues and resolving connectivity problems. Please reference our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) page as your first level of Galen technical support.
Software Support Assist in installation, Moodle maintenance, configuration, 2-factor Authentication, G-mail, and password resets. You can request assistance through email at support@galen.edu.bz.

The Office of Student Affairs (OSA) is dedicated to creating an environment that prioritizes student support beyond the confines of the classroom. Tutoring services offer personalized one-on-one assistance for a variety of subjects both online and on campus. Whether you’re grappling with Math, Accounting, Sustainable Development, Micro Computer Applications, Physical Geology, Macro Economics, Meteorology, or Ecology/Biology, our tutors are here to help you excel.
In addition to these services, the Office of Student Affairs also supervises student clubs and organizations, implements academic support initiatives, overseas scholarship programs, and facilitates various student-led activities. Our goal is to ensure that every student has access to the resources and support they need to thrive at Galen University.
