Accounting

The Accounting Degree and the Accounting Certificate are designed to develop students’ knowledge and skills in recording and summarizing financial transactions and analyzing, verifying, and reporting financial information about economic entities.

Why Study Accounting?

An Accounting degree or certificate prepares the graduate to excel in several fields of accounting.

Given the dynamic nature of the business environment, every organization requires the skills of an accountant. Regardless of the size of the economic entity, the need to maintain financial records is crucial for efficient, profitable operation and good corporate governance. Therefore, persons in both private and public sectors seek professional training in accounting to develop essential competencies to create and audit financial records. In addition, the multidisciplinary branches of accounting enable students to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, technological and interpersonal skills necessary to compete in business.

Our accounting program is designed to maximize students’ learning potential through a robust, high-quality curriculum that enables students to pursue successful careers of their interest and passion.

Students who complete the Galen Accounting degree will be eligible for exemptions from multiple ACCA exams. Additionally, the program provides students who aspire to become Certified Public Accountants (CPA) with basic preparation for the Uniform CPA examination. Since both international designations require experience, Galen’s accounting internship provides students with invaluable hands-on experience and networking opportunities so that students receive on-the-job training and are able to integrate their knowledge and apply their skills in a real work setting.

Additionally, the Accounting Certificate is customized for working adults seeking additional technical accounting skills or continuous professional development. The certificate program is also suitable for students who hold a bachelor’s degree in other business fields and want accounting training.
