Elementary Education

At Galen University, we provide a degree in Elementary Education that enhances and develops students’ desire and passion for teaching.

If you are interested in becoming a fully licensed elementary school teacher with 21st Century technological, pedagogical, and content knowledge skills, Galen University’s Elementary Education Program is the right one for you. Galen University offers a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and has certified more than 500 teachers through this program to date. All of our education programs are approved and recognized by the Belize Board of Teacher Education (BBTE).

This program is aligned with associate degree programs in Elementary Education offered at tertiary level institutions in Belize. This program is 139 credit hours. Students transferring into the program with an associate degree in Elementary Education get all their courses transferred and can complete their Bachelor’s degree in as little as five semesters. Students can also enter the four-year Bachelor’s program directly from high school.

The program is offered online between 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, making it a convenient option for employed students.

Galen University’s Elementary Education curriculum focuses on closing the gaps in educational access, providing quality teaching and meaningful learning. Emphasis is placed on the subject matter specialization and teaching across disciplines along with alternative assessment, curricular design, and leadership.

A Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Galen University is approved and recognized by Belize’s Board of Teacher Education and supports Galen University graduates’ application for full teaching licenses and salary upgrades.

Students can enter our four-year Bachelor program directly from high school with a GPA of 2.50. Junior College majors in Education also transition smoothly into this program. All relevant credits of courses are accepted from all ATLIB institutions.
